History:
The K1A2 is the modernised variant of South Korea’s K1 series main battle tank, developed by Hyundai Rotem. Entering service in the late 2000s, the K1A2 introduced advanced fire-control systems, digital communications, and improved situational awareness for crew efficiency. Based on the earlier K1 and K1A1, the K1A2 continues to serve as a backbone of the Republic of Korea Army’s armoured forces, reflecting South Korea’s ongoing commitment to indigenous defence technology and modernisation of its ground forces.
