Airfix Plastic Model Kit
Junkers Ju52/3Mg4E (1/72)
Airfix Junkers Ju52/3Mg4E represents one of the most recognisable transport aircraft of the twentieth century. Originally conceived as a single engined freight aircraft, the Ju52 evolved rapidly into the famous three engine configuration, offering improved power, reliability and operational flexibility.
This 1/72 scale plastic model kit captures the distinctive corrugated metal construction that made the Ju52 both visually unique and exceptionally rugged. The kit includes an instruction sheet, paint layout guide and decal sheet, allowing the aircraft to be finished in authentic markings from its long and varied service life.

History
The Junkers Ju52 first flew in October 1930 as a single engined cargo aircraft, but within six months the three motor variant had emerged, quickly becoming the definitive version. Capable of carrying up to seventeen passengers, the aircraft played a key role in establishing early commercial airline routes across Europe, particularly with Lufthansa.
Its corrugated magnesium and aluminium construction made the Ju52 exceptionally durable, earning it a reputation for reliability in demanding conditions. These qualities saw the aircraft adopted extensively by the Luftwaffe, where it became the backbone of German airborne transport operations throughout the Second World War.
Beyond its transport role, the Ju52 proved remarkably versatile. It served as an airborne ambulance, paratroop carrier, glider tug, floatplane and even as a minesweeper, fitted with a large degaussing ring beneath the fuselage to trigger Allied naval mines. With just under 5,000 aircraft produced, the Ju52 remains one of the most important and adaptable aircraft designs of its era.
