History:
The Tiger I Ausf. E is one of the most iconic tanks of the Second World War. Introduced by Germany in 1942, the Tiger was designed to counter the growing threat of Soviet heavy armour and became famous for its thick armour, powerful 88mm KwK 36 gun, and fearsome battlefield presence. Built on a robust chassis with interleaved road wheels and wide tracks, the Tiger I excelled in both offensive and defensive operations, particularly on the Eastern Front and in North Africa.
Despite its strengths, the Tiger was expensive and complex to manufacture and maintain. Its mechanical reliability was sometimes questioned under battlefield conditions, particularly due to the stress placed on its drive train and suspension. Nevertheless, it gained a fearsome reputation among Allied tank crews, often outgunning opponents long before they were within range to return fire.
Only around 1,350 units were produced, making it relatively rare, but it left a lasting impact on armoured warfare. The Tiger I has been preserved in museums around the world and remains a symbol of German engineering and military might during WWII. This detailed model captures the power and engineering brilliance of the Tiger I in a builder-friendly, modular format.
