Dragon Plastic Model Kit
March To The West Western Front 1940 (1/35)
This 1/35 scale Dragon kit presents a small but evocative snapshot of the German advance during the opening phase of the Western Front campaign in 1940. Rather than focusing on a single vehicle or hero figure, the set is designed to convey movement and atmosphere, with figures posed to suggest an army on the move, confident and organised as it pushes westward.
The sculpting reflects Dragon’s well established approach to figure kits, with natural stances, well defined uniforms, and equipment appropriate to the early war period. The set works well as a standalone display, but it also lends itself naturally to dioramas, especially those depicting roadside scenes, columns passing through villages, or pauses during long marches.

History: The German campaign in the west in 1940 unfolded with remarkable speed. Following months of relative inactivity during the so called Phoney War, German forces launched a coordinated advance through Belgium and the Ardennes, catching Allied armies off guard. Infantry units often advanced on foot alongside mechanised columns, moving through towns and countryside that had seen little fighting since the previous war. For many soldiers, these early weeks were defined by long marches, crowded roads, and a sense that events were moving faster than anyone had expected. Kits like this aim to capture that transitional moment, before the war in the west hardened into prolonged occupation and resistance.
