History
The F-101B Voodoo entered service with the United States Air Force in the late 1950s as part of the nation’s air defence network. Unlike earlier fighter variants of the Voodoo, the B-model was optimised solely for interception duties, equipped with advanced radar and fire-control systems to engage enemy bombers in all weather conditions.
Serving throughout the Cold War, the F-101B was operated by both the USAF and the Royal Canadian Air Force, forming a key component of continental air defence under NORAD. Though eventually replaced by more advanced interceptors, the Voodoo remained in service into the early 1980s. Its combination of speed, range and distinctive design has since earned it a strong following among modellers and aviation historians alike.
