This 1/72 scale plastic model kit from Hasegawa represents the F-35B Lightning II in special markings of U.S. Marine Corps squadron VMFA-242 “BATS.” The F-35B is the short take-off and vertical landing (STOVL) variant of the Lightning II, designed for operations from amphibious assault ships and austere airfields.

Based on the E46 tooling, this release contains 101 parts and captures the stealthy contours and lift-fan configuration unique to the B version. The angular fuselage, internal weapons bays, and single-engine layout are accurately reproduced with finely engraved surface detail. Once assembled, the completed model measures approximately 217mm in length with a wingspan of 148mm.

History
