This 1/350 scale plastic model kit from Hasegawa represents the Japanese battleship Mikasa as she appeared during the Battle of the Japan Sea. Completed in 1902 by Vickers, Sons & Maxim in the United Kingdom, Mikasa was considered one of the most powerful battleships in the world at the time of her commissioning.
The kit consists of 420 parts and captures the distinctive pre-dreadnought design, including the heavy main gun turrets, secondary batteries, and detailed superstructure. History
Mikasa served as the flagship of the Combined Fleet under Admiral Togo Heihachiro during the Russo-Japanese War of 1904 to 1905. Armed with four 30.5cm main guns and a powerful secondary battery, she played a decisive role at the Battle of Tsushima, also known as the Battle of the Japan Sea.
The battle marked a turning point in naval history, demonstrating Japan’s emergence as a major naval power. Mikasa’s success during the conflict cemented her place as one of the most famous pre-dreadnought battleships of the early 20th century.
