History:
The Kyushu J7W1 Shinden was developed late in the Second World War as a high-speed interceptor designed to counter Allied bombers. Its innovative canard layout placed the main wings at the front of the aircraft, with the engine and propeller mounted at the rear, a configuration intended to improve performance and stability.
Only a small number of prototypes were completed before the end of the war, and the aircraft never entered operational service. Despite this, the Shinden remains one of the most distinctive and forward-thinking designs of the era, reflecting Japan’s efforts to develop advanced aircraft under increasingly difficult conditions.
