History:
The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-27 was developed in the 1970s as a dedicated ground-attack aircraft based on the MiG-23 fighter. While it retained the variable-geometry wing design, it was optimised for strike missions with improved avionics and weapons systems tailored for precision attacks on ground targets.
The Flogger D variant introduced further refinements, enhancing its effectiveness in close air support and tactical strike roles. Widely used by Soviet and allied forces, the MiG-27 became an important component of Cold War-era air power, known for its durability and versatility in combat operations.
