History
The Cannone da 90/53 entered service in 1940 and was quickly recognised as the most effective gun in Italian service. Capable of firing high-velocity shells at both aircraft and armoured targets, it was deployed across North Africa, the Mediterranean, and Italy. Mounted on field carriages, static emplacements, and even adapted to truck chassis, the weapon proved versatile and lethal. Its long barrel gave it excellent range and armour penetration, making it a formidable opponent for Allied forces. After the Italian armistice in 1943, many captured examples were pressed into German service as the 9 cm Flak 41(i), extending their operational life until 1945.
