ICM Plastic Model Kit
Do 217M-1 WWII RAF Bomber (1/48) 48276
This 1/48 scale Dornier Do 217M-1 from ICM represents a late war German bomber that was captured by Allied forces and later flown in Royal Air Force markings. The Do 217 series was developed from the earlier Dornier Do 17 and became one of Germany’s most capable medium bombers during the Second World War.
The Do 217M-1 variant was powered by two Daimler-Benz DB603A engines producing around 1,750 horsepower each. Combined with four blade propellers, this configuration significantly improved performance and allowed the aircraft to reach speeds of up to 557 km/h. Although this increased speed reduced operational range, it gave the aircraft improved survivability in combat.

History
The Dornier Do 217 was introduced as a heavier and more capable development of the Do 17 bomber. Entering service in the early years of the Second World War, it was used for bombing, reconnaissance and maritime strike missions by the Luftwaffe.
The M-1 variant appeared later in the war and used the powerful Daimler-Benz DB603 engine to increase performance. One example was captured by Allied forces in Denmark during the final months of the conflict in 1945. The aircraft was flown to Britain, where it was evaluated by the Royal Air Force and used in demonstration flights alongside other captured German aircraft.
