ICM Plastic Model Kit
“Achtung! Sie Fliegen!” Sd.Kfz.3B with 2 cm Flak 38 (1/35)
This kit represents the Sd.Kfz.3b, a half-tracked adaptation of the V3000S truck fitted with the 2 cm Flak 38 anti-aircraft gun. Introduced during the second half of 1940, this configuration reflects early German attempts to provide mobile, close-range air defence for ground forces using proven and reliable components.
The 2 cm Flak 38 was valued for its high rate of fire and mechanical reliability. While primarily intended for engaging low-flying aircraft, it was also highly effective against lightly armoured vehicles and infantry. Mounted in the cargo bed, the gun could be fired once the side panels were folded down or removed, effectively turning the vehicle into a self-propelled anti-aircraft platform.

Although a full Flak 38 crew normally consisted of five men, practical operation often required fewer, especially in mobile roles. Vehicles like the Sd.Kfz.3b were used not only for air defence but also in direct fire support of infantry units, particularly during the early years of the war. This dual-purpose role gives the model a strong narrative presence, whether displayed in an anti-aircraft posture or supporting ground troops during an advance.
