History:
The ZIL-131 was introduced in the Soviet Union in the 1960s and became one of the most widely used military trucks across Eastern Europe. Its robust 6×6 drivetrain and high load capacity made it ideal for logistics, troop transport, and mobile weapon platforms. In recent years, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have continued to rely on the ZIL-131, often modifying it to carry heavy weapons such as the DShKM 12.7mm machine gun—a weapon renowned for its power, reliability, and effectiveness against light armour and aerial threats. These improvised gun trucks have played an essential role in modern conflicts, providing mobility, versatility, and rapid response capabilities. ICM’s kit accurately captures this evolution of a Cold War-era truck into a contemporary fighting vehicle.
