MisterCraft Plastic Model Kit
Spitfire Mk.IX Skalski’s Circus (1/72) D-170
This 1/72 scale Spitfire Mk.IX from MisterCraft represents the aircraft flown by the famous Polish Fighting Team known as Skalski’s Circus during operations in North Africa. The Mk.IX variant was introduced to counter improved German fighters and became one of the most important versions of the Spitfire in frontline service.
The model captures the distinctive Merlin powered Mk.IX configuration with its refined fuselage lines and elliptical wings. Surface detail and accurate proportions provide a solid base for recreating aircraft from the Mediterranean theatre. The kit includes assembly instructions and multiple decal options covering Polish, RAF and US operated aircraft from 1943.

History
The Spitfire Mk.IX entered service in 1942 as a response to the appearance of the Fw 190. By fitting the airframe with the more powerful Merlin engine, the RAF quickly restored competitive performance without waiting for a completely new design.
Skalski’s Circus was a Polish fighter team attached to the RAF and deployed to North Africa in 1943. The unit earned a strong combat reputation, and their Spitfires remain closely associated with the story of Polish airmen serving with Allied forces during the war.
