History:
The Sd.Kfz.234/1 Schwerer Panzerspähwagen was one of the final developments in Germany’s series of eight-wheeled armoured reconnaissance vehicles. Introduced in 1944, it featured a 2cm KwK 38 cannon in an open-topped turret, providing both firepower and visibility for scouting missions. Powered by a Tatra V12 diesel engine and equipped with all-wheel drive and steering, the 234/1 demonstrated remarkable cross-country performance. Deployed on both Eastern and Western Fronts, it was used for reconnaissance, escort, and communication duties in the closing stages of the war. Rye Field Models’ kit reproduces this late-war vehicle in outstanding 1/35 scale detail, highlighting the innovation and engineering sophistication of German armoured design.
