Kitty Hawk Models Plastic Model Kit
SH-60B Seahawk (1/35)
The SH-60B Seahawk was a cornerstone of US Navy maritime operations for decades, designed to operate from surface combatants and extend their surveillance and strike capability far beyond the horizon. Visually complex and purpose-driven, it represents an earlier but no less important generation of naval helicopter design.
This 1/35 scale kit from Kitty Hawk Models captures the distinctive features of the SH-60B, including its sensor fit, fuselage detailing and naval undercarriage. The cockpit and mission areas are well detailed, while the exterior benefits from crisp recessed panel lines that suit both clean and weathered fleet finishes.

History
The SH-60B Seahawk entered service with the US Navy in the early 1980s as part of the LAMPS III programme, designed to provide surface ships with an organic anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare capability. Operating primarily from destroyers and cruisers, the SH-60B acted as the ship’s eyes and ears beyond radar range.
Equipped with radar, sonobuoys and data links, the SH-60B played a crucial role during the latter stages of the Cold War and continued to serve well into the post-Cold War era. It saw operational use across the globe, supporting fleet operations, maritime security and combat missions until gradually replaced by more advanced variants such as the MH-60R. Despite this, the SH-60B remains a defining Seahawk variant, bridging traditional Cold War doctrine and modern naval aviation.
