Kitty Hawk Models Plastic Model Kit
Su-27 Flanker-B / Su-27SK (1/48)
The Su-27 Flanker-B was developed as a long-range air superiority fighter intended to counter Western fourth-generation aircraft. Large, powerful and highly manoeuvrable, it became one of the most recognisable and influential Soviet fighter designs of the late Cold War period.
This 1/48 scale kit from Kitty Hawk Models captures the imposing size and elegant aerodynamics of the Su-27, with finely recessed panel lines and an accurately proportioned airframe. The kit allows the aircraft’s distinctive blended wing-fuselage shape and wide-set engine nacelles to really stand out, making it an impressive centrepiece build.

History
The Su-27 entered service with the Soviet Air Forces in the mid-1980s, designed to provide long-range air defence and air superiority capability across vast territories. Emphasising range, endurance and manoeuvrability, it was intended to engage enemy aircraft well before they could threaten key assets.
The export Su-27SK variant extended the Flanker’s influence beyond the Soviet Union, being adopted by several foreign air forces and forming the basis for a wide family of derivatives. Though originally conceived during the Cold War, the Su-27’s design proved so successful that it evolved into numerous later variants, many of which remain in frontline service today. The Flanker’s legacy is one of raw aerodynamic excellence paired with unmistakable visual presence.
