Takom Plastic Model Kit
Lun-Class Ekranoplan Soviet Ground Effect Vehicle (1/144)
This 1/144 scale Lun-Class Ekranoplan from Takom recreates one of the most unusual military vehicles ever built. Developed during the Cold War, the Lun was an 8-engined ground effect vehicle designed to skim just above the sea surface at low altitude, allowing it to avoid radar detection while delivering devastating anti-ship firepower.
The kit builds to an impressive finished length of approximately 510mm and includes a full cockpit, detailed rear gunner’s position, and six Moskit missile launch tubes mounted along the spine. Three marking options are provided, giving flexibility for different display finishes.

History
The Lun-Class Ekranoplan was developed as a high-speed maritime strike platform capable of flying just 16–32 feet above the water’s surface, using ground effect to achieve exceptional lift and efficiency. This flight profile made it difficult for conventional radar to detect while enabling a rapid approach to naval targets.
Powered by eight jet engines and armed with six heavy anti-ship missiles, the Lun was intended to act as a fast attack platform capable of threatening surface fleets. Despite its impressive capabilities, only a small number were built because shifting military priorities and high operating costs limited broader deployment.
Today, the Lun stands as a symbol of Cold War experimentation, blending aviation and naval concepts into a single formidable machine. For modellers, it offers a truly unique subject, massive in scale even at 1/144, and guaranteed to stand out in any modern military collection.
