History
The Sturmgeschütz III began life as an infantry support vehicle but quickly evolved into one of Germany’s most effective tank destroyers. Its low profile and powerful gun made it ideal for ambush tactics, especially on the Eastern Front.
The StuH 42 variant replaced the standard anti-tank gun with a 105mm howitzer, returning the platform to its original role of close infantry support. Both vehicles shared the same basic chassis and superstructure, differing mainly in armament and battlefield role.
By the time the Ausf G entered production, the StuG had become the most widely produced German armoured vehicle of the war. For modellers, these machines represent practical wartime design, stripped of excess, focused entirely on combat effectiveness.
