Tamiya Plastic Model Kit
Messerschmitt Bf109 E-3 (1/48) 61050
The Messerschmitt Bf109 E-3 was a pivotal fighter for the Luftwaffe during the early years of the Second World War. Designed by Willi Messerschmitt, it combined the smallest possible airframe with the most powerful engine available, resulting in a high-performance, agile aircraft that set new standards in fighter design. With features such as all-metal stressed skin construction, retractable landing gear, and automatic Handley-Page leading edge slats, the Bf109 was advanced for its time and feared by its opponents.

The E-3 entered mass production in late 1939, with around 2,000 built within a year. Its improved DB601Aa engine, producing 1,100 horsepower, enabled excellent climb rates and speed. Armed with a 20mm MG FF cannon firing through the propeller hub and twin machine guns, it proved formidable in combat, matching the performance of the British Spitfire during the Battle of Britain. The Bf109 E-3 cemented its place as one of the finest fighters of the early war period and a cornerstone of Luftwaffe air strategy.
