Tamiya Plastic Model Kit
Russian Heavy Tank JS3 Stalin (1/35)
This 1/35 scale kit of the JS3 Stalin captures the aggressive, low-slung profile that made the tank so distinctive in the final months of the Second World War. The cast turret, heavy armour contours and textured surfaces are cleanly moulded, giving the model a solid sense of mass once assembled. Tamiya’s layout keeps the build steady, with details like the engine-deck grille, wheels, suspension and machine gun all sharply represented.
The turret and hull shapes fit together with that typical Tamiya calmness, and the rough armour texture looks convincing straight from the sprue. A commander figure is included to add scale and life to the finished piece. Whether displayed clean or weathered for late-war service, the kit offers a strong foundation for a detailed build of this influential Soviet heavy tank.

History
The JS3 Stalin emerged in 1945 as one of the most formidable heavy tanks of its era. Its rounded cast turret, low silhouette and thick frontal armour represented a major shift in Soviet armoured design, moving toward the sleek, heavily protected shapes that later defined Cold War tanks. Though it appeared too late to see widespread combat in Europe, the JS3 made a powerful impression during post-war displays and became a benchmark for heavy armour worldwide.
The tank influenced both Soviet and Western design philosophy, marking a transition toward stronger armour profiles and more compact turret structures. Its presence in parades and demonstrations reinforced its reputation as a symbol of Soviet armoured strength, and its design lineage can be traced through multiple generations of tanks that followed.
