Trumpeter Plastic Model Kit
Italian Navy Heavy Cruiser Pola (1/350)
This 1/350 scale kit of the Italian heavy cruiser Pola offers a detailed build of one of the most recognisable ships of the Zara-class. Trumpeter’s tooling provides clean, sharply defined surfaces with a well-balanced parts layout that includes 11 sprues along with separate hull and deck sections. The finished model measures approximately 327.6 mm in length and 34.8 mm in width, giving it a neat footprint that suits both standalone display and diorama settings.
The kit contains more than 410 parts, covering Pola’s distinctive superstructure, triple 203 mm turrets, secondary batteries, boats, cranes and other fittings. Surface detailing is crisp, capturing the angular lines and refined look of Italian naval design. Assembly is straightforward, with enough small components to satisfy detail enthusiasts without overwhelming the build.

History
Pola was one of four heavy cruisers in the Zara-class, a group considered among the best-balanced cruisers of the interwar era. Commissioned into the Regia Marina in the early 1930s, she served in various Mediterranean operations before and during the Second World War. Known for her heavy armour relative to other cruisers of the time, Pola combined strong protection with the firepower of eight 203 mm guns.
Her service came to an end during the Battle of Cape Matapan in March 1941, where Pola was disabled and later destroyed as part of the wider engagement between the Italian fleet and the Royal Navy. Despite her fate, the ship remains a notable example of Italian naval engineering, making her a popular and historically rich subject for model builders.
