History:
The Mikoyan MiG-29 “Fulcrum” was introduced in the early 1980s as a fourth-generation air superiority fighter, designed to rival Western aircraft such as the F-16 and F/A-18. The MiG-29UB was a two-seat trainer variant without radar but fully combat-capable, used to familiarise pilots with the aircraft while still offering air-to-air and ground-attack capability. In Russian service, the MiG-29 proved highly manoeuvrable, with excellent thrust-to-weight ratio and the ability to operate from rough airstrips. The aircraft has served with numerous air forces worldwide and continues to be upgraded in modernised variants. Academy’s 1/48 limited edition kit captures the MiG-29UB in Russian Air Force markings, offering a historically significant Cold War and post-Cold War subject for modellers.
