History:
Francis “Gabby” Gabreski was one of the most renowned American fighter aces of the 20th century. Flying the P-47D Thunderbolt with the 56th Fighter Group during World War II, he became the top USAAF ace in the European Theatre with 28 confirmed victories. After the war, Gabreski continued his service, flying the F-86E Sabre during the Korean War, where he added 6.5 more victories against MiG-15s. This remarkable career made him one of the few pilots to achieve ace status in two different wars, cementing his legacy as one of America’s greatest fighter pilots.
