History:
The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, affectionately known as the “Jug,” was one of the heaviest and most powerful fighter aircraft of World War II. The P-47D “Razorback” featured the original high dorsal spine before the later bubble-top canopy was introduced. Powered by the Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine, the P-47 excelled in both bomber escort and ground-attack roles. Its durability, heavy armour, and ability to carry large payloads made it a formidable asset in combat. Serving with the USAAF and Allied forces, the Razorback version was instrumental during campaigns in Europe and the Pacific, contributing significantly to Allied air superiority.
