History:
The Mitsubishi A6M Zero was introduced in 1940 as a carrier-based fighter for the Imperial Japanese Navy. Designed with a focus on agility and range, it quickly gained a reputation for its superior manoeuvrability in dogfights during the early years of the Pacific War.
The A6M2B Type 21 variant featured folding wingtips for carrier operations and became one of the most widely used versions of the Zero. While highly effective early in the war, later encounters with more heavily armed Allied aircraft revealed its vulnerabilities, yet it remains one of the most recognisable fighters of WWII.
