History
The F-14A Tomcat entered service in the early 1970s, providing the U.S. Navy with advanced fleet air defence capability. Equipped with the AWG-9 radar and long-range AIM-54 Phoenix missiles, it was designed to counter high-speed bomber and missile threats.
VF-2 “Bounty Hunters” operated the Tomcat from USS Enterprise during this period. The squadron’s distinctive markings and operational history made it one of the most recognisable units in U.S. naval aviation during the Cold War era.
