This 1/32 scale plastic model kit from Hasegawa recreates the Focke-Wulf Fw190D-9, one of the final and most refined variants of the famous German WWII fighter. Known as the “Dora,” the D-9 featured a longer nose to house its inline engine, giving the aircraft a distinctive profile compared to earlier radial-engined Fw190 versions.

The kit includes 111 parts and offers a detailed cockpit and engine, capturing the mechanical character of the late-war fighter. A pilot figure is also included to enhance display options. With a wingspan of approximately 328mm and a length of 321.5mm, the completed model has an impressive presence in 1/32 scale. Decals are provided for three different aircraft versions.

History

The Fw190D-9 was introduced in late 1944 as an improved high-altitude interceptor. Powered by a liquid-cooled inline engine, it offered better performance at altitude compared to earlier Fw190 variants, helping to counter Allied bomber formations and escort fighters.

Despite entering service during the final stages of the war, the Fw190D-9 proved to be a formidable aircraft in the hands of experienced pilots. Its combination of speed, firepower, and rugged construction ensured its place as one of the most respected late-war fighters of the conflict.
