History:
The 1989 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season saw Eddie Lawson make a bold and unexpected move from Yamaha to Honda, joining the Rothmans Honda Team. Working closely with chief mechanic Erv Kanemoto, Lawson adapted quickly to the NSR500, a machine that differed significantly from his previous ride but offered immense performance potential.
Through consistent performances and technical refinement, Lawson secured the 500cc world championship, becoming the first rider to win consecutive titles with different manufacturers. His success with the NSR500 cemented both his legacy and Honda’s dominance in top-level motorcycle racing during this era.
