Revell Plastic Model Kit
Gloster Meteor F.8/FR.9 (1/32)
This First Edition release of Revell’s 1/32 Gloster Meteor F.8/FR.9 is one of those kits that feels special from the moment you open the box. Limited to just 3000 units, it arrives with new-tool parts throughout, sharp surface detail and a set of extras that push it well beyond a standard release. The 405 components are cleanly moulded, and the fit has been tightened up as part of the redesign, which makes the build feel steady rather than overwhelming.
The kit includes separate engines, optional early or late-style intakes and alternative canopy arrangements, so you can tailor the build to the version you prefer. Extra accessories are also provided, including an etched cockpit set, canopy masks, an A3 poster and the Duke Hawkins reference booklet, giving you plenty of visual material while working through the model. Decals come with clear marking options and sit well over the engraved panel lines, bringing out the distinctive Meteor shape once the major assemblies are together.

History
The Gloster Meteor was Britain’s first operational jet fighter and a major step into the new era of post-war aviation. Entering service in 1944, it became the only Allied jet to see combat during the Second World War, but its true development came afterwards. The F.8 represented the pinnacle of the single-seat Meteor line, featuring a lengthened fuselage, improved tail design and more powerful engines, giving it the performance needed to remain competitive in the early jet age.
The FR.9 combined this improved airframe with a camera installation for reconnaissance duties. These aircraft served with the RAF across Europe, the Middle East and other regions throughout the late 1940s and 1950s, forming an important bridge between wartime piston fighters and the faster swept-wing jets that followed. This limited-edition kit captures that transition point in British aviation history with a level of detail that suits the subject well.
