The Su-27UB Flanker-C is the two-seat training and conversion variant of the Su-27 air superiority fighter. Designed to familiarise pilots with the handling and systems of the Flanker, it retained the same performance, range and visual authority as the single-seat aircraft, with a lengthened fuselage and tandem cockpit.

History
As the Su-27 entered service during the late Cold War, the need for an effective conversion trainer quickly became apparent. The Su-27UB was developed to allow instructors and student pilots to operate together while experiencing the full flight envelope and systems of the frontline fighter.
Although primarily intended for training, the Su-27UB retained full combat capability and was often used in operational units alongside single-seat Flankers. Serving with the Soviet Air Forces and later the Russian Federation, as well as export customers, the Flanker-C played a key role in sustaining the effectiveness of one of the most influential fighter families of the modern era. Its presence underscores the scale and seriousness of the Su-27 programme as a whole.
