History
The SSy45 flatcar was developed by Germany to transport heavy armoured vehicles, artillery, and equipment by rail, a vital logistical requirement during the Second World War. With a 50-ton load capacity, these wagons allowed armoured units to be rapidly redeployed over long distances while reducing wear on vehicles and conserving fuel.
The Sd.Kfz.135/1 mounted the 15 cm sFH 13 heavy field howitzer on a captured French Lorraine Schlepper chassis. This conversion provided German forces with a mobile artillery platform capable of delivering powerful indirect fire while keeping pace with advancing units.
