History

The EA-18G Growler was developed to replace the ageing EA-6B Prowler, bringing electronic attack capability onto a modern multirole fighter platform. By combining the proven Super Hornet airframe with advanced jamming systems, the Growler became a central element of modern air operations.

Entering service in the late 2000s, the Growler provides electronic warfare support by disrupting enemy radar, communications and air defence networks. Operating from aircraft carriers alongside strike fighters, it plays a critical but often unseen role, shaping the battlespace before and during combat operations. In modern conflicts, its ability to control the electromagnetic environment has become as important as traditional firepower.
