History
The Toyota 88C was developed as part of Toyota’s Group C endurance racing programme during the late 1980s. Built to compete in the World Sportscar Championship and the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans, the car combined aerodynamic efficiency with a powerful turbocharged engine designed for high speed endurance racing.
Fielded by Toyota Team TOM’S, the 88C carried the well known Minolta sponsorship colours and competed against some of the strongest endurance racing teams of the period. The car formed part of Toyota’s early efforts in international endurance racing, helping to establish the foundation for the company’s later success at Le Mans.
