History
The McDonnell Douglas F-4J Phantom II was a refined naval variant developed for the United States Navy, featuring improved radar, avionics and carrier suitability over earlier versions. It became one of the primary fleet defence fighters of the late 1960s and early 1970s, operating extensively from aircraft carriers during the Vietnam War era.
Special marking schemes such as “Show Time 100” were used to commemorate milestones, unit achievements or significant service anniversaries, turning an already imposing aircraft into a visual centrepiece. These schemes reflect not only the Phantom’s operational importance, but also the strong unit identity and pride that surrounded its service. In display form, the F-4J remains every bit as commanding as it was on the flight deck.
